Acquisition of citizenship as a spouse of a Cypriot citizen

The M125 applications may be submitted by foreign spouses of Cypriot nationals who have completed three years of marriage and two years of residence in the Republic prior to the application date. 
 
Supporting documents:
 
· Birth certificate of the applicant
· Certificate of no criminal record for the applicant 
· Marriage certificate
· Birth certificate of the couple’s children 
· Copy of the applicant’s passport 
· Copy of the Cypriot spouse’s passport
· Certificate of registration of the Cypriot spouse (where applicable)
· Statement of harmonious cohabitation signed before an Officer of the District Administration Office 
· Certificate of cohabitation from a local authority
· Submission of application in duplicate with stamp duty for €8.54 affixed to one of the forms. 
· Copy of receipt for €300 fee paid
 
Application for acquisition of citizenship may be submitted by spouses of expatriate Cypriots after they have completed at least three years of marriage. These applications must additionally be accompanied by a letter from the couple stating the reasons for requesting the Cypriot citizenship. If the couple has completed at least five years of marriage and has at least one child, it is not necessary to attach the aforementioned letter. 
 
NOTE:
All public documents issued abroad must:
(i) Be accompanied by their Greek or English translation by the Press and Information Office.
(ii) Be duly certified with:
 
- either the Apostille stamp, if they have been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961,
- or, if they have not been issued by countries that have signed the Hague Convention of 1961, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in said country; or the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country and the Embassy/Consulate of the applicant’s country in Cyprus, and subsequently, the seal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
If the country has not signed the Hague Convention of 1961 and there is no Embassy/Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in the applicant’s country, the documents must be stamped by the applicant’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and subsequently by the closest Embassy/Consulate accredited by the Republic of Cyprus.
